ND's Uninsured Kids
Approximately 13,000 children in North Dakota do not have health insurance, roughly the equivalent to the seating capacity for a UND Sioux Football game at the Alerus Center.
Studies have shown that children without health insurance are more likely to fall behind in school. They miss more days of school because of sickness, may be unable to concentrate because toothaches or have difficulty reading or seeing the board. Children without health insurance are three times as likely to have not seen a doctor with a year and 53% more likely to have missed "well-child" check-ups than children with insurance.
