In 2005, DMF funded a worksite wellness initiative pilot to develop an efficient and cost-effective worksite wellness model that could be replicated across the region to improve the health of area employees. Pilot sites include: Grand Forks Public Schools, Jamestown College and West Country Products in Jamestown.
Progress:
361 of 657 pilot site employees participated in health screenings which included biometric screenings (cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, height, weight and body mass index) and personal wellness profiles
Cultural and environmental audits and employee interest surveys are being administered
Wellness committees have been formed at all sites
Marketing, wellness and incentive plans are in place
Health education and healthy lifestyle programs have begun
Health screenings will be repeated and compared to initial employee health baselines
