A mission to inspire a vibrant future while honoring Fargo’s past is no small feat, yet this is the goal of Kilbourne Group.
Through the restoration of historic buildings and the creation of new ones, Kilbourne Group works to ensure that downtown Fargo’s design promotes community health and well-being, as well as create a space where people want to live, work, and play. They want Fargo to become one of the world’s most vibrant communities.
While they already give back to the community through their restoration and building efforts, Kilbourne Group also offers its support and resources to nonprofits such as Emerging Prairie, TEDxFargo, Unglued Craft Fest, Great Rides Bike Share, The Arts Partnership, and Plains Art Museum, among many others.
Creating a long-term impact
In 2018, Kilbourne Group officially paired with Giving Hearts Day for the first time although individual team members have been supporting it for years. Kilbourne group focuses its philanthropic giving in the areas of community health and culture (housing, healthy activity initiatives, art, diversity, etc.) and workforce development (workforce attraction efforts, downtown events, etc.).
“We are committed to being a great neighbor and looking for creative ways to support the causes that resonate with our team members,” says Adrienne Olson, Kilbourne Group’s Communication Manager, and Margie Johnson, Kilbourne Group’s Chief People and Culture Officer.
This is why Giving Hearts Day was a great fit for the organization – each team member could choose to support their favorite charities.
In order to propel their team members’ donations further, Kilbourne Group matched each donation up to $20. Over half their team participated.
“Giving Hearts Day is a great opportunity to give back to our community in a way that will have a long-term impact,” says Adrienne.
Kilbourne Group plans to match donations again for Giving Hearts Day 2019 as well as decorate their windows facing Broadway!
Purpose to impact
“It’s energizing and inspiring to see how the community embraces and has so much fun with the theme and the enormous impact Giving Hearts Day makes in our community,” says Margie.
Stay tuned for another business story next week, and remember to live with purpose!
